Eco Church

At Watford Meeting, we are working towards becoming an Eco Church.

Eco Church is a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes, including other local churches and Quaker Meetings across the country.

We will take practical action and celebrate progress in becoming a more environmentally friendly community in five areas: our buildings; our land; our worship and teaching; community and global engagement; and our lifestyles.

Here are some of the things we have already started doing:

  • Generating energy from solar panels
  • Installed a cycle rack
  • Saving water by collecting rainwater
  • Holding eco-themed all-age worship
  • Having bird boxes and bug hotels in the garden
  • Using our outdoor space for worship and reflection
  • Using and encouraging Fairtrade products
  • Inviting speakers on green issues.

To achieve an Eco Church award, we have to fill in a survey about our current activities and future plans. What do you think we should be doing to care for climate, nature and biodiversity? Share your ideas with watfordnotices@gmail.com
