At Watford Meeting, we are working towards becoming an Eco Church.
Eco Church is a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes, including other local churches and Quaker Meetings across the country.
We will take practical action and celebrate progress in becoming a more environmentally friendly community in five areas: our buildings; our land; our worship and teaching; community and global engagement; and our lifestyles.
Here’s some things we have already started doing:
- Generating energy from solar panels
- Installed a cycle rack
- Saving water by collecting rainwater
- Holding eco-themed all-age worship
- Having bird boxes and bug hotels in the garden
- Using our outdoor space for worship and reflection
- Using and encouraging Fairtrade products
- Inviting speakers on green issues.
To achieve an Eco Church award, we have to fill in a survey about our current activities and future plans. What do you think we should be doing to care for climate, nature and biodiversity? Share your ideas with watfordnotices@gmail.com
